The world of hip-hop has been hit by waves of unfortunate trends over recent years. However, a new generation of artists are pushing the envelope and laying down tracks that act like crack to our ears. The feel good theme that comes with this music is hard to pass up. Who doesn't want to be feeling good listening to great music?
Jigz The Flyer (aka Jigz) has developed his own style of beats and flow that hasn't been heard before. His take on music is all about good times, and living life. In an interview with Jigz he illustrated his goal with music, "I want to be able to go in the studio and lay down a track and be happy with who I am. I want to make music that reflects me and my lifestyle."
Originally from Meriden, CT, 21 year old Jigz is catching the attention of a wider audience than you think. In lieu of the NCAA Final Four Tournament, and UCONN's success in becoming National Champions, Jigz's track "Kemba Walker" was featured on an ESPN SportsCenter highlight reel for the UCONN point guard .
With tracks like this, it shows the versatility Jigz brings to the table. This is the kind of music hip-hop fans have been long awaiting.
The style of hip-hop Jigz produces brings it back with that traditional soulful feeling. Thanks to his uncle Freddy, Jigz pulls his inspiration from classics like Bootsy Collins, Parliament Funkadelic, and Sam Cook.
Everyone remembers heir first hip-hop CD, it's one those things you don't ever forget. Since a young age, Jigz was blasting the hits. His first CD was Snoop Dogg's epic album "Doggy Style". Jigz created a hybrid blend of beats and flow drawing the styles of nearby New York and Boston. This combo has proved to make an ill unique sound coming straight out of Connecticut.
"I want to make music and run with whatever bubbles up organically." Jigz has let hip-hop take him all throughout New England . He currently resides in Keene, NH where he works closely with manager Dan Barron. He has dedicated his world to his work with music, even constructing a live-in studio. Keene State College has been exposed to the music of Jigz for quite some time now, as the love for his music is spreading like wildfire. On any given weekend one can find themselves at one of KSC's many raging parties with Jigz spitting something steezy on the mic.
Jigz commented, " Music brings people together and makes them happy. I just want to be the one behind it all... and maybe get some money while I'm at it."
